Dognapping is on the rise ever since the pandemic took hold of the world. Sadly, unscrupulous thieves steal dogs and then either keep them or resell them for thousands of dollars to unsuspecting buyers. Some breeds are more popular than others, and as a result, they are being stolen in higher numbers. One of those breeds is the French Bulldog. A French Bulldog mom from El Paso, Texas, is warning others about her traumatic experience and hopes someone has seen her stolen dog.

A now-viral video from Jessica Canales’ backyard shows her dogs running around her fenced-in property. All of a sudden, a man wearing a white shirt with black shorts is seen jumping over her fence. He had his sights set on the French Bulldog, so he kept the woman’s other dogs occupied with food he kept in his pocket. He lifted the little Frenchie named Stella and took her with him over the wall. Canales is devastated and asking for help from the general public to get Stella back.

“You can’t help but to cry because she’s a family member,” Canales stated. “She’s one of ours, you know? But I don’t want that to happen to anybody else. They’re pets, they’re dogs, But they’re part of our family.”

Canales normally lets her dogs out to go potty each morning before work. Recently, she went to let the dogs back inside and noticed the puppy was missing. She immediately phoned her husband, who rushed home to review the surveillance footage. Sadly, that’s when her husband saw the creep jump the fence, lure the dogs, and dognap Stella. A police report was filed, and now Canales pleads for Stella’s safe return.

“We do suspect he had to have an idea, it’s scary to say, of our schedule, when the dogs are out,” Canales shared. “It was 6:47 a.m. when that happened. I don’t know who has a hamburger patty in their pocket at 6:47 a.m. in the morning walking through backyards.” Press play on the video below and please keep a close eye on your dogs at all times.
