A 27-year-old man has been charged with the despicable crime of kicking and using a shovel to hit his partner’s small dog named Mishka. The animal was so severely injured that it had to be euthanized. The reason the man gave for harming the innocent dog is that he had a bad day at work.
The incident took place in Canberra in Australia. Security footage showed the man in the act of harming the dog, which he later admitted to when questioned by police.
It is stated the man allegedly punched the animal, kicked it, and then threw it before finally hitting it with a shovel seven times, carrying it back to its dog bed but not before shaking it. After the supposed bad day at work, the suspect got angry because the dog chewed his clothes and soiled himself around the house.
When he appeared in court, Magistrate Louise Taylor stated the man showed a “propensity for violence and cruelty to something smaller and more vulnerable than him” and the alleged acts were “deeply concerning”. He will reappear in court soon on one count of aggravated animal cruelty causing death.
Our condolences go out to the loved ones of the dog who died in this tragedy.
