The U.S. Coast Guard Station Fort Myers Beach crew were on night patrol when they received a call regarding an elderly dog in distress.
It turns out that the dog had been treading water in the sea for quite some time, so several crew members sprang into action as quickly as possible to find him.
Once they spotted him, they got their boat as close as possible, and two of the crew members reached over the boat and grabbed him.
They worked together to pull the soaking pup out from the water and into the boat.
“How are you doing, buddy?” one of the crew members said in the rescue video. “You’re the best person I’ve ever rescued.”
The grateful dog licked his rescuer’s face as he laid in his lap.
They snapped a photo with the grey-faced doggy before sailing him back to shore to reunite with his family. Thankfully, he is unharmed, but things could have been much worse if it weren’t for the Coast Guard crew.
