Dixie was petrified of humans and would cower in fear in the corner of her stable every time someone approached her. It was clear that she had come from an abusive situation and was traumatized by mistreatment. But just when trainers gave up on her, a 10-year-old girl named Ella walked in like her guardian angel!

Ella was looking to adopt a horse, but she shocked everyone by choosing the troubled Dixie. The moment Ella and Dixie met each other, there was an instant bond. The pair got along like longtime friends and spent hours together. The trainers were shocked as the stubborn Dixie allowed Ella to groom her and braid her mane!

Ella’s mom, Jen Fox, was unsure of her daughter being in the company of an “unstable” horse with a shady past. But Dixie’s behavior around Ella forced her to change her mind and she ultimately adopted her.

While Dixie was thrilled to have Ella by her side, she still had some temper and behavioral issues around other humans. But over time, Ella worked hard and made sure Dixie blossomed into the sweetest horse! The duo even began training together for equestrian sports, and ended up winning a prize in their very first competition!
