A Pawtucket, Rhode Island, man has been arrested after a witness saw him throw a dog off a first-floor deck, injuring his leg.
Police were called to the scene to help R.I. Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RISPCA) with the incident.
The witness described the suspect as a “white male with a short beard and two piercings in his face, near his chin.” He was later identified as 25-year-old Tony Rowland.
RISPCA Officer Earl Newman told Rowland that he was under arrest, but he then fled through a window. When officers came back to the house to speak with his roommate, Rowland tried to flee a second time, but luckily officers were able to stop him.
Rowland has been arrested and charged with malicious injuries to an animal, and will appear in court in the near future.
The dog, named Snoopy, is expected to make a full recovery. He is being treated at RISPCA and will be up for adoption once he is fully healed.
