In many overcrowded shelters, dogs are chosen one by one to be euthanized. It is a devastating fact due to too many dogs and not enough homes. One particular puppy, however, refused to go down without a fight. And his story is a wonder to us all.
In an overcrowded kill-shelter in Oklahoma, a puppy was put down. But oddly, the euthanasia medication did not work. The veterinarian walked back into the room after euthanizing the dog and he was awake. He’s a medical marvel for sure.
“He’s a miracle dog, absolutely,” says Kylie Jo Mitchell, an employee at Kings Harvest Pet Rescue No Kill Shelter. “I’ve never heard of anything like this ever, this is a first.”
Rudolph, an 8-month old Pit Bull/Lab mix, has stunned everyone he meets!
“He was euthanized and when they returned to that room they came back and Rudolph was alive,” Mitchell says.
After the medical debacle, Rudolph was taken in by Kings Harvest. They shared Rudolph’s story online and he quickly became an overnight sensation.
One such fan of Rudolph’s is Jacob Hommer. He saw Rudolph’s photo and knew he had quite the spirit, “My family and I, we have bred Siberian Huskies for combat veterans, Purple Heart recipients, combat wounded veterans,” Hommer says. Hommer felt that Rudolph, despite not being a purebred Husky, would make a veteran very happy. “I sent (the veteran) the story on this dog,” explained Hommer. “I said, “check this dog out and the incredible story,” he was so touched by Rudolph’s story that he was like ‘I have to have this dog’.”
“Everybody has been really interested in this boy,” Mitchell says. The shelter received an onslaught of applications.
However, without formal confirmation of identity, it seems Rudolph picked his own forever Dad. We are not exactly positive of Dad’s identity but we are sure of is that Rudolph will FOREVER feel loved! And will never be rejected again!
The shelter wrote: “Rudolph is heading to his forever home. It was a tough decision with so many wonderful applications but Rudolph fell in love with this young man and the feeling was mutual 🥰 Thank you for adopting a rescue dog.”
