It is said that the bond between a dog and his or her owner is unbreakable. That recently proved incredibly true when 25-year-old Stuart Hutchison passed away and his dog died 15 minutes later.
The man was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2011 and underwent surgery and several rounds of chemotherapy. In 2014 and 2018, his condition relapsed with the cancer spreading to his brain, bones, and pelvis.
Hutchison’s mother, Fiona Conaghan, told Metro UK, “Stuart died about 1:15pm that day, and Nero died roughly 15 minutes later. He had three dogs, but him and Nero were like one man and his dog.”
He came home from the hospital and wanted to die at home, according to his family. His wife, Danielle, is heartbroken to have lost both her husband and beloved dog.
Fiona revealed Danielle was staying at her house with Stuart and woke one morning to find her glasses broken. When Danielle’s father went to get her another pair from Stuart’s house, he discovered Nero was not well.
The dog was rushed to an emergency vet, but something ruptured in his spine. Nero had been totally fine up to that point. Sadly, he passed away just 15 minutes after his dad succumbed to cancer.
The family reports losing their beloved son and husband was a shock and traumatic even though it was expected. Nero dying added tragedy to the already sad situation.
Our deepest condolences go out to the family of Stuart and Nero.
