As pet parents, we want the best for our fur-kids. Some of us spoil our pets with table scraps even though we know a lot of these foods aren’t good for them. But what about fruits and vegetables? They’re good for us so they must be good for Fido, right? Yes and No. Some fruits and veggies are beneficial to your dog while others can have ill or even potentially toxic effects.
So, here’s the skinny on what’s safe and what isn’t safe to give to your puppers:
YES! Apples are a terrific source of fiber as well as Vitamins A and C. They are also perfect for cleaning your dog’s teeth. Just remember to remove all seeds first and never give your dog the core.
NO! Avocado is healthy for human consumption ONLY. Avocados contain persin, which is toxic to dogs. It can induce diarrhea and vomiting. Remember that guacamole is jam-packed with avocados and isn’t safe for dogs either!
Not really. While it’s not dangerous to give to your dog, really, serving it raw is tough for them to eat. When cooked, asparagus loses much of its nutrients so it kind of defeats the purpose.
