One of the stars of the popular cable television series, Game of Thrones, is speaking out to help save dogs’ lives. Jerome Flynn, who plays the character Bronn on the show, is pleading with people to stop buying “Direwolf Huskies.”
When the Disney movie 101 Dalmatians came out, thousands of people flocked to breeders to get one of the dogs. Sadly, many of those dogs later ended up in shelters or euthanized in shelters due to pet overpopulation.
Flynn spoke on behalf of PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, in a video shared to YouTube. People are purchasing a Siberian Husky dog from breeders because they think it resembles the “Direwolf Huskies” on Game of Thrones.
In a direct statement, Flynn says, “Acquiring dogs on a whim has dire consequences.”
He reminds people that there are “simply too many of them and too few homes.”
Bringing a dog into your life is a long commitment, so be certain you are ready for this before considering a dog.
As Flynn says, “You can save a life by adopting a dog or preferably two.”
