For one dog living on the street, he already got his miracle. But he didn’t understand it just yet…
People would pass by and see him sitting all alone in the apartment building’s parking lot. He would sit in the same spot day in and day out, staring in the same direction.
Many tried but no one could get near him. He would bolt as soon as he saw someone approach. And boy, is this dog fast!
One day, cameras capture an unexpected moment. The street dog runs toward a group of children outside the building. Only then, with their little hands, does he allow human contact. He loves kids!
But once the kids are done playing with him, he returns to the same spot in the parking lot and stares — what does it mean? What exactly is he waiting for?
Then, a woman walks out. His tail wags and he gets excited! She has a bowl of food for him. The woman tells the filmmaker: “This is my dog.”
But it doesn’t make any sense! She goes on to explain that she found the street dog and tried to adopt him and bring him up to her home. She successfully did when he was a tiny puppy but then he ran away through her legs when she opened the door and refused to come back inside. Yet, he always returns to ‘his home.’ The dog only allows his owner to come close enough to feed him. Then, he runs away. He refuses to be caught.
His owner still loves him and is determined to help him regardless.
The filmmaker consults a veterinarian who explains that it’s likely that adults hurt him while on the street and while he loves the woman, he doesn’t trust her. He doesn’t trust any grown person. Only children.
So, they devise a plan! They get enough children to participate and circle the unwilling dog while holding hands. The woman is inside the circle. Once the dog steps inside the circle, the kids close in, forming a ‘trap.’
Finally, the woman can bring the dog inside HIS HOME that he’s hasn’t seen in a very long time! She bathes him and tries to soothe him. But he’s frightened. The vet recommends that the children who he trusts come into the apartment and show him that it’s ok. They calm him with affection and playtime.
He’s learning to be inside a home again one day at a time.
While the ‘street’ dog wasn’t actually a stray, he refused to believe that his home was safe to enter. The trauma of being around grownups was just too much to bear.
Thankfully, the deserving dog got his happy ending. Watch the entire heartwarming story in the video below!
