Animal Aid Unlimited received an emergency call for a puppy found crying from inside a gutter. When the rescuers arrived, they were shocked to see the truth of the situation.
The shaking and panting puppy, later named Leo, was not just stranded inside the gutter, but the gutter was also closed off with a heavy slab, making it impossible for the puppy to escape. The rescuers got rid of the slab with much effort and lifted Leo out of the storm drain.
Leo’s head kept dropping down every second, which was a tell-tale sign of seizures, head trauma and neurological issues. Leo was taken to the shelter, where he fell asleep immediately after receiving the emergency aid.
Leo slept for 2 days straight, and the volunteers began worrying about him. Leo fought back and gained some strength to eat on the third day. However, for many days to come, he was unable to stand or behave coherently, which often happens in cases of brain damage.
This video documents Leo’s struggles over his recovery period, and how he fought all odds to rise as a survivor! The shelter’s dedicated care and 24/7 support worked like miracle for Leo. Today, he is steady on his feet, and is a much-cherished darling of the shelter’s care-staff!
