Imagine roaming the streets alone when suddenly a car hits you and keeps going. That’s exactly what happened to Max the dog in Wyandotte, Michigan. As the car sped away, poor Max crawled away and collapsed next to a fence.

Thankfully, a good Samaritan who witnessed everything came over to see the dog and help. The person sat next to him until animal control officers arrived on the scene.

On their Facebook page, the folks at Wyandotte Animal Shelter shared an update.

“After a complicated dispute with someone who claimed to be the owner, yet refused to treat him and refused to sign him over to anyone willing to treat him… we were finally able to take possession of him, and therefore responsibility for his care,” they posted.

Max was determined to have a broken leg and must undergo a few surgeries. The ultimate goal is to restore pain-free mobility of his hip. At the appropriate time, the shelter plans to place Max up for adoption so that he can be loved forever.

We wish you well in your healing process, sweet Max!
