It is said that every dog shall have his day, and for military working dogs, their day has arrived. The United States Postal Service announced that four designs of military working dog postage stamps will make their debut in 2019.

According to a press statement from USPS, “Each block of four stamps features one stamp of each of the following breeds — German shepherd, Labrador retriever, Belgian Malinois and Dutch shepherd — that commonly serve in America’s armed forces.”

A beautiful white star appears in the background of each stamp, featuring the dogs and accents of blue, red, and gold in honor of the American flag and patriotism.

Details on the official release date and locations of the first day ceremonies will be revealed soon.

Other stamps due to be released soon include a star ribbon, tennis champion Maureen Connolly Brinker, the art of Ellsworth Kelly, and three stamps dedicated to the transcontinental railroad.

The military dog stamps were created by DKNG Studios, with Greg Breeding responsible for their design. What a long-awaited honor!
