When Penelope was found abandoned on the streets, her situation was too pitiful to witness. School kids were scared by her disfigured appearance and would think of her as a monster. The “Jason Heigl Foundation” rescued Penelope and wondered how to get her better.
Penelope was pegged to be a 6-month-old German Shepherd. She was suffering from demodectic mange. Since she never received any treatment, her condition was growing worse. The many oozing open cracks and sores on her coat left her in constant pain.
As the rescuers started treating Penelope, the dog felt a ray of hope again. She received ample love and support from her caregivers, and felt safe and secure for the first time in her life.
Soon, Penelope started growing shiny and healthy fur on her body. Her nasty infections were finally healed and she became a bundle of joy in the shelter. As she was rescued around the holiday season, she received the nickname of “Christmas Miracle”!
When this video was made, the rescuers were still looking for a comfortable home for the gentle pooch. This video became so popular that Penelope soon found a loving forever home for herself. What a sweet, happy ending for Penelope!
