A dog named Penny is fighting for her life after she was allegedly tossed out of a moving vehicle in Henderson County, Kentucky. As per reports, Penny was freezing all alone for hours by the time she was discovered in the median by a road crew. However, the poor thing had totally lost her mobility by then. She also had rolls of plastic wrapped around her neck and it seemed as if she was bagged up tight before being thrown away like trash.
Henderson County Animal Control immediately rushed Penny to the vet in a state of emergency. After multiple detailed evaluations and scans, Penny’s legs were found to be fractured in 3 places. Both her hind legs and her right front leg were completely broken, which explained her paralyzed state. To make matters worse, her sacrum (posterior pelvic wall) was shattered as well.
Keeping Penny’s vulnerable state in mind, she has now been transferred under the care of a rescue called “The Arrow Fund” that specializes in veterinary care for extreme abuse cases. The rescue workers are currently working toward assembling a special surgical team who could handle her complicated case. Penny has been transported to the Blue Pearl Animal Hospital in Louisville and is being monitored 24/7.
Once Penny’s vitals stabilize, she will be looking at multiple painful surgeries and arduous rehab sessions in the coming months. While she has a long road to recovery ahead of her, her caretakers believe she will pull through with the help of her survivor spirit. Meanwhile, the investigating officers have requested the community to relay them any information that can lead them to the wicked person responsible behind Penny’s predicament.
