What started as a typical trip to the dog groomer wound up becoming a catastrophe for a Peoria woman and her senior pooch. Allison Gonzales adopted her emotional support dog, Buddy, when she was in the sixth grade. The dog has been by her side ever since, as he helps Allison with her anxiety and panic attacks. Buddy is now estimated to be about 20 years old.
A recent trip to a Petco grooming salon started off normally, but Buddy’s groomer noticed the dog wasn’t acting normally. As she gave the 20-year-old pooch a bath, he started having a seizure. When Allison saw her poor pooch in trouble, she had a panic attack. The grooming salon leader, Nichole, stepped up to help both mom and dog.
“I was just scared. I was just holding him and telling him ‘I’m right here, I’m by your side.’ The whole time I just kept thinking is he going to be okay? Am I going to get through this?” Allison shared.
Another employee came to the assistance of Allison, who was in full-on “panic mode.” Petco’s general manager, Brandon Shockley, offered to drive the duo to a local vet and pay for the bill. He wanted to show compassion for a customer in her time of need. Allison could not believe all the kindness she was given, and she is very grateful the team was able to help her and Buddy.
Thankfully, everything was okay with Buddy in the end. Thanks to everyone who stepped up to help!
