The Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County and the Warren City Dog Warden are asking the pubic’s help in identifying the person who abandoned a dog in a dumpster in Warren, Ohio.

The little pup was found by sanitation workers as they were about to empty the container. They immediately got help for the poor dog, who is now named Phoenix.

All four of her limbs were covered in wounds, and she also has infected injuries on her head and neck. She’s also having trouble walking and her teeth are damaged.

Luckily, she didn’t have any broken bones, but she is still extremely malnourished and dehydrated.

A condition like this does not happen overnight, so it’s clear that Phoenix had been neglected for quite some time. She is now receiving treatment and being cared for ’round the clock.

Despite being mistreated at the hands of evil humans, she is still very trusting and loving of everyone she meets. She loves to play with her ball and toys, and enjoys eating treats.

Phoenix will receive ongoing medical care until she is ready for adoption. Thanks to a kind donor, 100 percent of her medical expenses are being paid for.

Investigators are hoping to find surveillance video from the nearby area that may show the abandonment on camera.

If you have any information on who may have discarded Phoenix in the dumpster, please contact the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County at 330-539-5300.
