Rocko is a 9-year-old dog who has been diagnosed with incurable lymphosarcoma. Nobody knows how much time he has left, but the disease will eventually claim his life. The staff at “Maricopa County Animal Care and Control” feel heartbroken every time they think about Rocko’s unfair and painful life.
During his stay at the shelter, Rocko had been adopted several times. But every family stated some or the other excuse and eventually returned the loving dog. After his grim diagnosis, Rocko was sent to a foster home with Michael, a former marine. Michael, who suffers from PTSD, immediately bonded with the brilliant dog. He has now made a bucket list to make up for the dog’s painful past.
In this video, we see Rocko ticking off the first item off his bucket list. The sweet dog has always been fascinated by fire trucks. When Michael reached out to the local fire station and shared Rocko’s tragic story, they happily volunteered to let the dog ride in their truck for the day!
Rocko’s ecstatic reaction at seeing the fire truck has left us in bittersweet tears. The pooch will spend the next few weeks ticking off the other items in his bucket list. Michael and the shelter workers want Rocko to feel loved and cherished in his final days, a feeling that he had been craving all his life. We hope Rocko has a great time fulfilling his bucket list! Stay strong, dear boy!
