Sandy is an 11-year-old rescue dog who lives with his owner, 88-year-old Gwendola Johnson, in Glendale, California. While Sandy has always been a good boy, Gwendola never thought that her mild-mannered pooch would save her life one day!

Gwendola, who lives in an isolated home atop a small hill, was walking out her front door on a hot day when she suddenly tripped and took a nasty fall. She lay sprawled out on the ground and unable to stand up. As her cries for help went unheard, Sandy quickly jumped into action.

Soon, Sandy spotted Kirk White, a maintenance worker with the Glendale Integrated Waste Management, pulling away trash cans in the vicinity route. The dog ran up to him and began barking at him, while anxiously coaxing him to follow him indoors. Kirk immediately understood something was off and he followed Sandy to find the helpless elderly lady just at the right time!

Thanks to Kirk’s attention, Gwendola received the help she needed and was eventually able to recover from the fall. She is eternally grateful to the bright young lad for responding to Sandy and being a vigilant and selfless do-gooder. As for Sandy, his loyalty and intelligence has been permanently captured in Gwendola’s home security camera. He is being hailed as a local hero now and we are so proud of him!
