When Sasha Wittington took her 7-year-old Border Collie/Australia Shepherd mix dog, Kalo, to the vet hospital, she assumed she would be in good hands. Kalo was due for a routine dental cleaning, and Sarah dropped her off to have the procedure done.

While in the care of a veterinary technician at Banfield Pet Hospital in Brandon, Florida, Kalo got away. Somehow she slipped her collar and ran out the facility’s automatic front doors at PetSmart.

“I’m beyond frustrated and sad. For her to just run away like that is devastating,” Whittington shared.

Since Kalo went missing, the devoted dog mom is understandably upset and spends all her time posting flyers and looking for her missing dog.

A member of the media reached out to Banfield Pet Hospital about the incident and received the following statement:

“As a practice full of pet lovers and owners, we understand the distress of dealing with a lost pet, and our hearts go out to Kalo’s family during this difficult time. At Banfield, we place the well-being of our patients above all else, and we have strict policies in place regarding the handling of pets in and around our hospital to help prevent a pet from escaping. We remain committed to offering Kalo’s family any assistance we can until she is found, and we are working to fully understand how she got loose to prevent future situations such as these.”

They also hired a trapper to search the woods in the area. Anyone with information about Kalo is asked to call Sasha Whittington at 813-777-7627 or email her at sashawhittington@yahoo.com.

We have our paws crossed that Kalo is safely reunited with her mom soon.
