In what can only be summarized as blatant animal abuse, 33-year-old Sara Stafford of Parchment, Michigan, faces cruelty charges for what she did to a neighbor’s dog. Fortunately, surveillance cameras captured the assault on the tiny Maltese dog.

Video shows Stafford arriving at her neighbor’s house and kicking the woman’s small pup several times. Sadly, she kicked the animal with such force that he flew several feet through the air.

Kalamazoo Township Police Detective Sgt. Haynor reported Stafford’s neighbor came to the door, at which point she assaulted her, punched her in the face, rushed into the home, and kept harming her neighbor.

“The victim believes she was punched in the head and face approximately 12 times and was rendered unconscious,” Haynor shared.

The reason Stafford was upset is she thought the victim was sleeping with a mutual acquaintance, so she went directly to her residence in order to confront her. After waking up from the assault, Stafford was stepping on her throat and said, “How’s your back surgery feel now?”

If the act was not recorded on video, Julie Barber, the director of community connections for the Kalamazoo Humane Society, said the case would be hard to prove.

She is being held in the county jail with a bond set at $50,000. The animal cruelty charge carries a 93-day misdemeanor, which Barber believes is not enough punishment.
