Tao, a 12-year-old Golden Retriever, was diagnosed with glaucoma, and sadly had to get both of his eyes removed in February 2019.

Luckily, dogs adapt very quickly in situations like this, and Tao was able to rely on his other senses to get around. But his owner, Melanie Jackson, still wanted to do something for him to ease his worries and help him navigate the world a little easier.

That’s when she decided to get him a little guide dog.

The guide dog, an eight-week-old Golden Retriever named Oko, has become Tao’s eyes and helps him find his way around.

Not only is Oko his guide dog, but he has quickly become his very best friend!

The two of them are now inseparable, and Tao puts all of his trust into Oko, which has helped him deal with losing his sight.

While Tao was able to get around without Oko, he was always too afraid to run. But with Oko leading the way, Tao now runs like the wind!
