One of Country music’s favorite couples, Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks, added a new addition to their family last week: an adorable puppy named Millie.

The couple adopted Millie from Maury County Animal Services, a shelter in Columbia, Tennessee. Unfortunately, Millie was the only puppy that was adopted from the shelter that day, but Yearwood took to Instagram to not only introduce her new pup, but to remind everyone that any day is a good one to adopt.

Yearwood, an animal rescue advocate, wants to bring awareness to the importance of pet adoption and animal rescue.

“You can save a life, have a new best friend and give a homeless pet a forever home at the same time,” she wrote.

Millie has settled well into her new home and the country couple is excited to watch her grow.

In an exclusive video interview with PEOPLE, Brooks joked that you can’t even let his wife go to the grocery store or else she’ll come home with a dog.

While Yearwood says her other rescue dog, Emmy, was confused of the new addition, by the looks of a photo she posted of the two pups napping next to each other, it seems like they’re getting along great.

Yearwood felt that Emmy needed a buddy so she went online and that’s when she first saw Millie, the dog she had been waiting for, as well as the whole family.

“Life is better with a dog, and now we have two of them,” Brooks said.
