A dog from Wichita, Kansas recently experienced a nightmare when his owner passed away. His whole entire world was recently turned upside down, but instead of consoling him and comforting him, he was dumped at an animal shelter. Imagine being scared, alone, and not understanding where your loving owner went. Sadly, there is no way to explain to a dog that his or her owner passed away.
Two men decided they would not be able to care for the dog, so they “tossed him” into the back of a pickup truck and dragged him into the city shelter. He was shaking, fearful, and had no idea what was happening, but they continued pulling the dog by the neck into the building. According to Beauties and Beasts Facebook page, the staff explained the city shelter is only for pets found on the streets.
The men took the dog back, “tossed” him in their truck, and that’s when a lieutenant in charge of animal operations was contacted. Sadly, the two men who were trying to dump the dog were related to the deceased person. Beauties and Beasts wrote, “Lieutenant Hungria that oversees operations at the Wichita animal shelter was notified of the situation and immediately intervened to accept the dog from the family members as a surrender concerned for the dog’s future welfare.”
They say the dog has completely shut down and needs someone to help heal his broken heart and show him how to trust again. For more information, visit the Beauties and Beasts Facebook page.
